The 2015/16 season closed with another Madrid derby, this time in the 'Copa del Rey Juvenil' - the Under-19's national Cup, a highly coveted cup at this level. Some small vengeance was sweet after Atleti's San Siro loss on penalties to their bitter city rivals 29 days ago today.

Los rojiblancos ran out worthy winners after a worthy contest that finished 4-3, a small victory and a little balm for the wounds still open and sore from Milan. It was double-delight for the colchoneros as Atlético Féminas also won the 'Copa de la Reina' this morning.

Atlético took advantage of a disastrous opening for Real Madrid, pouncing on a horrible mistake and then Real promise Mario Rodriguez brought los blancos back into it, one of two goals he scored on the day. His second put Santiago Solari's side 3-1 up in the 26th minute as the Cup looked to be heading to Atleti's eternal rivals again.

That would have been too predictable however, and the final had much more to offer. A pivotal moment came as bad luck struck for the madridistas - Toni Moya, the cerebrum of this red-n-white unit sent in a cross that Jaume managed to divert into his own goal past a hapless Luca Zidane.

That changed everything and Atleti evened things up with a golazo from Zaka on 81' and extra time was pure anarchy. Solano was the decider as he robbed a poor pass near the area and lifted it unstoppably over Zidane. It wasn't the Champions League final, but Atlético Madrid celebrated as if it were.
