Things will get better, says Ayestarán

Ayestarán spoke to the media after the game and reiterated his belief that things would get better for his side.

Do you think you’re capable of turning this around?

Totally. Both me and the players are capable of turning things around.”

Do you still think that the defence isn’t problematic?

“When you concede a goal obviously there’ll be defensive errors involved. We’re having problems but it’s more about specific moments, nothing deeper.”

Ayestarán says that he still has faith in his team and specifically his defence.

Was this the weakest performance you’ve seen from your team?

We started well but then for about 20 minutes we had a lot of difficulty keeping up and they caused us real problems down the left-hand side. I think the team played well in the second half. We made some changes and had more of the ball. Having said that, it’s true that after their first goal it was as if we’d forgotten how to play, which made things difficult for us.”

Do you think your job is at risk?

“I can’t think of that. I need to concentrate on getting us out of this situation and boosting the team’s morale ahead of the match against Alavés.”
