Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw made Champions League history on Tuesday night, registering the highest-scoring match ever in the competition.

Marco Reus hit a hat-trick for the Bundesliga outfit as they maintained their stranglehold on Group F top spot by thumping Legia 8-4 at Signual Iduna Park.

Total haul of 12 surpasses Monaco-Depor goal fest

The game's total of 12 goals beats the 11 shared by Monaco and Deportivo La Coruña when the Ligue 1 side saw off the Spaniards 8-3 in November 2003.

Dortmund travel to face Real Madrid on 7 December - with both teams already through to the last 16 - needing to avoid defeat to qualify as group winners.
