Ronaldo has now won the Ballon d’Or, his fourth, the Uefa Best Player in Europe, the World Soccer, Four Four Two and Espy (awarded by EPSN) best player awards, as well as the Di Stéfano Award and Goal.com best player. Last week, he added the Fifa Club World Cup Golden Ball to his haul.

On this occasion, he was up against Barcelona’s Leo Messi, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuaín and Atlético Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

It was the fourth time Ronaldo has won the Globe Soccer award after wins in various categories in 2011, 2013 and 2014.

Ronaldo was also named European Sportsperson of the Year by a collection of 27 continental media outlets, the first time a football player has been awarded the distinction.
