Chilean key for Hamman
Bayern Munich have not had one of their best seasons of recent times, although a strong finish to 2016 put them top of the Bundesliga and they have made it through to the last-16 of the Champions League, albeit in second place behind Atlético Madrid. But where many look to the likes of Neuer in goal, Robben on the wing or line-leading Lewandowski in front of goal to help them push against the best, ex-German internationalist Dietmar Hamman believes that Arturo Vidal is the key to Ancelotti's team.
A man for the big occasions
"Arturo Vidal has enormous value. Up until 2015 he had a more defensive role, but the Chilean has taught me something. He has become the most important player for Bayern Munich," said the midfielder who won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool.
"Someone like him is needed by every team, especially for the biggest games. Vidal always plays on the border of what is legal and is always a goal threat," explained Hamman, a keen analyst of the beautiful game.
Vidal and his Bayern teammates return to Bundesliga action this coming Friday when they visit the Dreisamstadion to face Freiburg.
