Lucas Hernández will not be with Atletico Madrid's squad when they fly to Germany for their last 16 Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen on February 21st. According to Carrusel Deportivo, it is the same day that the central defender will have to appear before a judge in relation to the incident of alleged domestic violence that allegedly occurred on February 3rd in Madrid.

The player's lawyer has requested that the hearing be adjourned but that request was denied. The summons is scheduled for 11.30 in the morning.

Defensive crisis

Atletico will fly out the day before to Germany and will train on Monday in the BayArena in Leverkusen. On Tuesday 21st, they play the Bundesliga side and could have an issue at the centre-back spot. Jose Gimenez is just back from injury, the clock is ticking on Diego Godin, who injured himself against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final and the only other fit central defender is Stefan Savic. Saul can be deployed as a centre-half but it remains to be seen if he will be called into that position.
