Inter Milan do not appear to have given up in their hopes of signing James Rodríguez from Real Madrid. Last summer the Serie A giants tabled an offer of 85 million euros for the Colombia international, which was rejected by the Bernabéu board.

Pérez meeting at Valdebebas

On Saturday morning Zhang Jindong, the major shareholder in Inter who bought a 70 percent stake in the club for 270 million euros last summer, was at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground where he met with club president Florentino Pérez, where James was among the topics of conversation, according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, among others.

“Zhang’s Madrid mission: sign James”, ran the headline. This season James has dropped down the pecking order at Madrid and is the 17th used player under Zinedine Zidane with 1,135 minutes over 20 appearances in all competitions and last December after being an unused substitute in the Club World Cup final the Colombian suggested he would be considering his options: “I have offers to leave and I have seven days to decide.”

In the end he decided to remain at Real Madrid but he has still not fought his way into Zidane’s first team picture. Inter are prepared to make a big money offer in the summer with Zhang intent on adding some Galáctico dust to the Inter squad.
