Kiko Casilla: "I'll leave the goalkeeper debate to the press"

The Madrid goalkeeper returned to the starting line-up after several months without playing and kept a clean sheet as Keylor Navas' future remains in the air.

Kiko Casilla returned to the starting XI in this afternoon's win over Alavés. The deputy shot stopper put in an excellent display after several months with any first team action. For him, there is no debate about the goalkeeping position.

Clean sheet against Alavés: "That's down to the whole team. We gained an impressive result - but one which didn't really reflect what when on out on the pitch. It was a complicated game - Alavés didn't leave us any spaces. I'm happy for the three point and not to have conceded any goals".

The key to resolving the game: “The key was simply to keep believing. We knew it was going to be difficult, and that we would have few chances and needed to put away the ones we did have. And that's exactly how it turned out. We struggled a bit in the second half - maybe due to tiredness after the international break. We have individual qualities which help us resolve games like today's”.

Madrid derby, Bayern in the Champions League...

Demanding month: "It's a motivating month with a lot of matches. We know that it'll be a big etst for us but we have the resources to take it forward. We're full of hope and motivation".

Goalkeeping debate: "We have a balanced side. It's unfair that Keylor is being criticized and how he is being treated. It's a lack of respect. People have a very short memory - they don't remember all of the good things he has done, only the bad things. I'll leave the goalkeepers' debate to the press".

Rumours of Madrid wanting to sign a keeper: “We know ehere we are and there will always be other keepers' names mentioned. We have to keep outside of it all and keep working”.

Isco: "He repeated what he did with Spain. He's very important, for that different magic he brings. From now until the end of the season we are really going to need him and he knows that".
