Zidane: Real Madrid coach unsure he'll still be in job next year
Speaking ahead of Saturday's derby with Atlético, Zinedine Zidane confessed he is far from guaranteed to remain as Real boss next seasonReal Madrid-Sevilla live: LaLiga
Zinedine Zidane admitted to uncertainty over his future as Real Madrid boss as he spoke to the media on the eve of Los Blancos' LaLiga clash with Atlético Madrid.
Zidane, whose side go into week 31 two points clear of Barcelona with a game in hand, also played down James Rodríguez's tantrum at Leganés on Wednesday.
Here's what Zidane had to say:
Would failing to win LaLiga represent a disaster? "I don't know; we're going to give our all to win it. That's what we're here to do. Everyone will have their own opinion."
Crucial weeks ahead, with El Clásico and Bayern Munich to follow the derby: "LaLiga and the Champions League are up for grabs, and what we've done so far doesn't mean anything; we haven't won anything yet."
3-0 win at Atlético in November: "It [Saturday's derby] is a different game. They're in good form and I don't expect the same game as in our first meeting of the season."
Atlético's qualities: "Everyone talks about this team because of their defence. Yes, they defend well; but there's more to them than that. I think their play has improved a lot in recent years. They defend and attack. They know how to play football."
Zidane: "I know what comes with being Real coach, for good and bad"
Does your future at Real depend on LaLiga and Champions League success? Are you certain you'll still be in the job next term? "No, not at all. I'm not preparing anything [for next season]. I'm focused on what remains of this season.
"I know this club, I know what comes with being Real coach, for good and bad. I only talk about the next game; that's the way it'll be until my final day as coach here."
Isco 'crisp-gate': "There is no controversy. Isco's here and he's very happy. We know that all of that is part of football, but we're only interested on what happens on the pitch."
James outburst after Butarque substitution: "It's just one of those things that happen between a coach and a player; it's something that will always happen and it's finished. Our focus is squarely on tomorrow's game and that's that."
