Real Madrid's tall order to get Nacho booking overturned
The central defender went into the book following a run-in with Correa. It was his fifth booking which tirggers a suspension but it will be difficult to get it overturned.
Problems for Zidane going into Wednesday's game against Celta in Vigo - Nacho, picked up a booking in last night's game against Sevilla - it was his fifth yellow card which means he has completed a cycle and must serve a one-game suspension. The Real Madrid full-back, who opened the scoring, went into Undiano Mallenco's notebook after a run-in with Joaquín Correa. The Sevilla player fouled Nacho who, after falling to the ground, fixed his rival with a hard stare. Once he was back on his feet, Nacho found Correa waiting for him and the Argentinean starting pushing the Madrid player about. Conscious that he was a booking away from suspension, Nacho didn't fall for the trap but clenched his fists as he trotted off. Cristiano and Isco were also a yellow card away from receiving a ban.
Madrid to appeal Nacho's yellow card
Real Madrid will appeal the booking as Emilio Butragueño confirmed in the Flash Zone after the game: "Nacho did nothing at all to deserve going into the book". However it will be very difficult for Madrid to be successful in their appeal from the description of the incident in the referee's match notes: "In the 80th minute, player (6) Fernández Iglesias, Jose Ignacio was booked for the following motive: Arguing with an opponent".
