Spain and Chelsea striker, Diego Costa, spoke to TVE after the game against Macedonia that saw Costa score his sixth goal for Spain and his side's second on the night.

Costa, who caused a stir during the week when he revealed that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte messaged him and told him he was simply not in his plans next season, said "I don't know. I have a contract with Chelsea and they are the one who know what they will do with me. I have to wait to see what decision my club makes.

Regarding the upcoming clash against Italy and the lack of yellow cards for suspensions, Costa said, "these games are important and even more against Italy. The guys were concentrated so as not to see any yellow cards." Six of Spain's squad were on yellows going into the Macedonia game, and five starters, with none of them receiving a booking that would keep them out of the Italy game.

Costa said, "It was a complicated battle. It was important to win here. We knew it was not going to be easy and just look at the second half. In the first half, we could have scored more but in the second half, it was slightly more complicated."
