El Clasico: Jornada 17: Real Madrid-Barcelona (December 20 TBC at the Bernabey with return leg on (or around) May 6th

Week 1 recap

The RFEF have confirmed that Segunda fixtures will be revealed "later this evening" ....

Covered many's a UEFA/FIFA draws in my time but have to say that that draw was up there with the most shambolic. No reflection on the previously announced request from Villarreal & Atleti to play away and a overly complicated and far from user friendly draw system.... Now over to LaLiga to begin the task of allocating ko times with their broadcast.

Week 1 fixtures confirmed: * (Atlei/ Villarreal play away)

Athletic v Getafe closes week 1

Villarreal v Levante / Leganes v Alaves / Atleti v Girona (to be played in Girona)

Trip to Riazor for the LaLiga holders with Barcelona facing Quique Setiens's Betis side at Camp Nou.

 Deportivo v Real Madrid

Barça v Real Betis

Valencia v Las Palmas fourth game

Celta v Real Sociedad  is the thrird confirmed fixture

Kick-off times ... games will not start until post 1900 due to the climatic conditions for the first two fixtures (ie it's pretty hot in spain in August) . Please don't ask me about the exact kick-off times ...that's another day's work...

Second game confirmed: Malaga v SD Eibar

This draw certainly lacks the slickness of a UEFA draw.... far from smooth... just one game confirmed so far...

Sevilla v Espanyol

Real Madrid will kick-off thir campaign away from home ....

The draw will generate the first round of fixtures before the computer whirrs into action and we get the full fixture list. Kick off times will be decided at a later date ...

Don't forget both Villarreal and Atletico Madrid play their first two games away from home due to construction work on their respoective grounds.

Excitement builds as the draw looms. The format of the draw being explained by a very well groomed Spanish FA official

We're live at Las Rozas for the draw. Plenty of empty seats (no free canapaes this morning maybe). We'll have the usual ramble before the balls get drawn.

Bad news folks,.. Rod Stewart's busy schedule means >he cannot make the draw at the Spanish FA HQ ...

The 2017/18 league campaign commences on the weekend of 18/19/20 August. We'll have two rounds of fixtures before the international break  in September with the attractive 2018 WC qualifying Spain v Italy on 02/09.

When will El Clasico be staged you ask? There is a macro within the draw system that will ensure a late October/early November game with the other Barça-Madrid match-up in April 2018.

Excitement in Girona as the Catalan club look forward to their first ever spell in the top flight

 ...and this is Villarreal

This is how the Wanda Metroploitano looked at the end of June. Atleti certainly face a race against the clock to get the stadium ready for September.

It was confirmed yesterday by LaLiga that both Villarreal and Atletico have requested that both their first two games be played away due to work ongoing at the Estadio de la Ceramica and the fact that the  new Atleti stadium Wanda Metroplitano is not yet ready.

As is the case in England with the Premier League and the FA,  Spanish league football (1st & 2nd divisions) are goverened by the Spanish FA (RFEF) and admisitered by LaLiga. The fraught relationship between respectiuve heads Villar and Javier Tebas have hampered the progression and perception of the domestic game.

The fixture list draw was scheduled for yesterday but was forced to postponed after the arrest of Angel Maria Villar (head of the Spanish FA)

LaLiga clubs starting to post on social media about the draw. Don't forget, the campaign starts the w/end of August 19/20.
The Liga 1|2|3 or Seginda division fixtures will also be revealed this morning. Can Osasuna, Sporting or Granada bounce back at the first time of asking?

An early morning geography lesson...Here's where the 20 LaLiga sides that will compete in the 2017/18 campaign are based in the Iberian peninsula.

Hello, good morning and welcome to AS English's live coverage of the 2017/18 LaLiga fixture list. The draw is scheduled for a 12:30 start at the Spanish FA HQ in Las Rozas and we'll be building up ahead of the draw all morning. Stay with us :  )
