Ramos: Real Madrid appeal second booking in sending-off
Real are to challenge the second yellow card shown to Sergio Ramos in Los Blancos' 3-0 LaLiga win at Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday nightChampions League Final: Real Madrid - Liverpool
Real Madrid are to appeal Sergio Ramos's second yellow card in the champions' opening-weekend LaLiga win at Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday.
Dismissed after earning second booking in aerial challenge
Ramos was sent off late on after being adjuged by referee José Luís González González to have led dangerously with his arm in an aerial challenge with Deportivo's Borja Valle, having already been booked for an off-the-ball incident with Fabian Schär early in the second half.
Indeed, the defender appeared to have been lucky to escape a straight red card after seemingly slapping Schär in the pair's 53rd-minute confrontation.
Second yellow card was "harsh", says Ramos
Speaking post-match, Ramos described his second yellow as "harsh", adding: "In European and FIFA [international] matches, the refereeing is more permissive. I prefer the English system, where they let you play."
Real are confident of having the card chalked off and avoiding a one-match ban that would rule him out of next Sunday's league clash at home to Valencia.
Bale, Casemiro and Kroos seal opening win over Deportivo
Goals by Gareth Bale, Casemiro and Toni Kroos saw Zinedine Zidane's side beat Deportivo 3-0 at Riazor to end week 1 top of the table.
