Messi booked in Barcelona - Juventus Champions League match
Sevilla - Barcelona: Copa del Rey quarter-final
Leo Messi picked up a yellow card in Barcelona's Champions League game against Juventus at the Camp Nou for protesting furiously to match referee Damir Skomina.
Messi demanded yellow for Pjanic
Messi was fouled by Pjanic in the midfield and firmly believed the offence merited a caution. The Argentinian walked over to the referee brandishing an imaginary card and exhorting the match official to take action. The referee was having none of it, and walked past Messi, who then grabbed Skomina, lightly, by the neck.
The referee had by now had enough and booked Messi for his continued protests.
Messi spurred on by booking
The incident however did Juventus little good, as Messi seemed to be inspired by righteous indignation and almost immediately created Barcelona's second goal, going on a raging run into the box, before his cross-cum-shot was cleared only as far as Rakitic, who fired home. Messi then notched Barcelona's third with a superb solo run and shot into the corner.
