Carles Vilarrubí, vice-president of Institutional and International Relations, has handed in his resignation in light of Barcelona's game being played against Las Palmas behind closed doors on Sunday afternoon, according to reports. Shortly after, Jordi Monés, the commissioner of Barca Hub also handed in his resignation. It was a game Barcelona would eventually win but there is friction at boardroom level over what became a shambles at the Camp Nou.

The resignation of Vilarrubí is reportedly a direct result of the game being played after the Barcelona police force, Los Mossos, guaranteed the safety of fans and LaLiga decided there was no need to call the game off. The traditional meal between the two teams' directors was cancelled before the game and the board at Barcelona met urgently to see what they would do. They opted to play the game but behind closed doors.

Josep Maria Bartomeu neither denied or confirmed the resignation when he spoke to BeIN Sports before the game. AS understand that there will be more resignations but these could take place at the next general meeting.
