The team massage therapist, Dimitri Traschinko, kept him alive by administering artificial respiration and cardiac massage until an ambulance arrived.
Hapoel Beersheva's captain, Elyaniv Barda, left hospital today after his heart rhythm was interrupted when he was hit in the chest by a ball during training. Doctors at the Soroka Center in Beersheva however warned Barda, 35, that his heart is yet to fully recover from the incident that nearly killed him last Tuesday.
Barda kept alive by cardiac massage
The team masseuse, Dimitri Traschinko, kept him Barda alive by administering artificial respiration and cardiac massage until an ambulance arrived.
The medics, who by chance were near the training facilities, managed to revive the player after administering four electric shocks to reactivate the heart.
Barda "going home to rest"
"In general, his condition is good and he is improving, but in spite of this his heart has yet to show that it has fully recovered. It will be necessary to carry out a full follow-up check in the coming weeks." The medical recommendation is that he does not play in the next few weeks.", Dr. Doron Zager said in a statement to the Times of Israel.
Elyaniv Barda wrote on his Twitter account a message of thanks to the medical team, coaches, team and fans: "Now I'm going to go home and basically I'll rest."
