Nigel de Jong signs for Bundesliga side Mainz 05
Nigel de Jong has been a free agent since his contract with Galatasaray ended and Mainz 05 have taken advantage.

Nigel De Jong will return to the Bundesliga as a Mainz 05 player, the club confirmed on Friday.
Galatasaray confirmed on the club's homepage earlier in the day that De Jong's contract had ended and the player was free to negotiate with other teams. Despite the fact that he had been linked with a move back to Ajax, De Jong is on his way to Mainz.
The German club needed to sign a defensive midfielder after Fabian Frei returned to Basel. Mainz see De Jong as the perfect replacement and to help the team to steer away from relegation. They are currently in 15th position in the Bundesliga.
It's not De Jong's first time in the Bundesliga. He has already played for Hamburg, as well as Ajax, Manchester City, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Galatasaray.
