Sky Sports suspend Carragher for the rest of the season
The 40-year-old former Liverpool captain has been suspended by Sky Sports for spitting at a 14-year-old girl after Manchester United victory over his former club.
Sky Sports have suspended analyst and pundit Jamie Carragher for the rest of the season after video footage emerged of the former Liverpool captain spitting at a 14-year-old girl and her father after Manchester United beat his former side.
Carragher, 40, apologised profusely for the incident and his fellow pundit and colleague, Gary Neville, defended his former rival. He was inittially suspended from the Monday night football action after it happened but Sky Sports have made the decision to suspend him for the remainder of the Premier League season.
Statement from Sky Sports on Carragher
A statement from Sky Sports said: "Following an internal review, Sky has suspended Jamie Carragher for the remainder of the football season.
"Jamie has taken full responsibility for what has happened and we will ensure he gets the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again.
"Before the start of the next season we will sit down with Jamie to discuss whether he is ready to return to his role."
