Cristiano omitted from Portugal squad as Eder returns

Lisbon based sports daily "A Bola" reported how the Madeira born striker contacted the Portuguese Federation and spoke with both president Fernando Gomes and national team first coach Santos requesting to be omitted from international duty during the months of October and November.
The return of Lokomotive Moscow striker Eder, the hero of the European title win in 2016 is the major surprise recall and he joins the recently injured Danilo Pereira in being recalled to the national side.
