Elma Aveiro and Miguel Paixao, Cristiano Ronaldo's sister and friend respectively, had some rather harsh criticism of the Ballon d'Or award on Monday and the fact that he did not take home the prize for the best footballer in the world in 2018 with his former teammate Luka Modric winning the award.

"Sadly, this world lives off corruption, the mafia and fucking money. The power of God is greater than this putrefaction. God might take his time, but he is never wrong," said Cristiano's sister.

Miguel Paixao, who was more elaborate in his message, wrote all of the reasons why Ronaldo should have won the award in 2018.

"He was just missing this! It's absolutely incredible what he has done this year. It's a massive lack of respect after what he did, which was more than enough to be considered, once again more than the best," he said.

Paixao diatribe on Ronaldo's merit

"Many people say that I say this because I am his friend, but no. It's more than that, I am fair and I don't forget facts. Facts that, even if they didn't want him to win, they can't overlook the historical numbers and close their eyes to who was the best player in the world last year," he continued.

"The truth is that nobody scored more than Cristiano Ronaldo in 2017-18 with 54 official goals. He was the top scorer in the Champions League for the sixth consecutive year with 15 goals. He won the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the European Super Cup and the Spanish Super Cup (score decisive goals). He starred in the most remarkable and memorable event at the 2018 World Cup, scoring the hat-trick against Spain becoming the first player in the world to score in nine consecutive international competitions. He became the first player in the world to score more than 400 goals in the five major European leagues, he scored in Turin, the best goal of the year and probably the best goal in the history of the Champions League. Among all the Ballon d'Or candidates, none of them are having such an incredible start to the season with goals, assists and great displays. Against these facts, there are no arguments. #CR7 #TheBestEver. One this is sure, that they will still have to put up with the best ever for a long time to come. History continues. #TheBest #ProudOfYouBro # Living7egend #NadaContraoGrdJogadorModric #MasContraFactosNoHaArgumentos".
