Japan international Shoya Nakajima is set to join Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers from the Portuguese Primeria Liga outfit Portimonense.
"Nakajima is 80% at Wolverhampton. His transfer is not 100% done but it's possible it will happen in January," the Portuguese club’s chairman Rodiney Sampaio told radio station Radio Renascenca on Thursday. "All that is left is to see is if the buy-out clause is paid in full.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Portimonense are set to receive £18 million from Wolves in the deal.
Primeira Liga Player of the Month
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder won the player of the month award in the Portuguese top tier in September, and has scored five goals in 11 matches this season.
According to the Japan Times back in April, Atlético de Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were both interested in Nakajima ahead of last summer's transfer window.
