The Portugal international has undergone an operation on a persistent pubis problem and will be on the sidelines for some time.

Update:
Valencia's Guedes out for up to two months after surgery

Valencia will have to contend without Gonçalo Guedes for up to two months after the Portugal midfielder underwent an operation on a troublesome pubis injury that has plagued the 22-year-old’s start to the 2018-19 season.

As well as his pubis problem, Guedes was also ruled out for most of October with a muscle tear that saw him miss the Champions League draw with Young Boys and two Liga games.

Doctors at the Hospital Santa María in Porto who carried out the surgery confirmed that the midfielder will be out for six to eight weeks, dealing Valencia coach Marcelino another blow.

Los Che have been a pale shadow of the side that finished fourth in LaLiga last season, a result that was in no small part due to the performances of Guedes, who scored five times and provided 11 assists while on loan from PSG as the driving force of Valencia's midfield.

Valencia broke their club transfer record to make the move permanent during the summer, paying PSG 40 million euros for Guedes.

This season, while he has struggled with physical issues, the Portugal international has managed just 10 Liga appearances and one assist as Valencia have chalked up just three victories to leave Marcelino’s side 15th in the table.
