When and where is the 2010 Asian Cup final?
The final is being played on Friday 1 February 2019 and kick-off is at 18:00 local time (15:00 CET, 09:00 EST). It is being held in the Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi, a venue with a capacity of 45,000 people, the largest in the UAE. You can check the time in your country here.
Who is playing in the final?
Japan and Qatar will take to the field for the showpiece match in Abu Dhabi. This is the fifth Asian Cup Final for Hajime Moriyasu's side - and they have won the previous four they were in - while Spanish manager Felix Sanchez takes his team into their debut final.
How did Japan and Qatar reach the final?
After making it out of Group F with three wins out of three (Uzbekistan, Oman, Turkmenistan), Japan overcame Saudi Arabia in the round of the last 16 with just a single goal scored. It was the same scoreline in the quarter-final against Vietnam and then a clinical performance saw them put three goals past a very decent Iran side with no reply.
Qatar also dropped no points in their group, leaving behind Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and North Korea with a +10 goal difference. Then came a 1-0 victory over Iraq and the same result against South Korea in the quarters. Almost mirroring their final opponents throughout the competition, a well-deserved 4-0 win over hosts UAE gave them a chance to make history. Note UAE lodged a complaint over Qatar the day before the final, Thursday, arguing they fielded an ineligible line-up.
