Cristiano back in Portugal squad
The Juve player sat out Portugal's League of Nations campaign and rejoins the squad ahead of Euro 2020 qualifiers against Ukraine and Serbia.
Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the Portugal squad after Fernando Santos selected the players that would be involved in the forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Ukraine and Serbia. Cristiano joins a squad that also features LaLiga stars: Guedes, André Silva, Nelson Semedo y William Carvalho. Joao Cancelo, Pepe and Beto.
There is limited surprise in Cristiano's return to the international scene after he stated in a recent DAZN interview that his move to Juve was key to his decision in sitting out the UEFA Nations League matches: "I spoke with the national team coach and head of the federation and felt it was the time to stop for a while. I was in a new country and immersed in a new culture. I wanted to focus on my new challenge. Now things are different, I've adapted to life in Italy and want to do my bit for Portugal".
Euro 2020
Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to feature in both home games in March as Ukraine and Serbia visit Lisbon with the Madeira born player on a high after his three goals against Atletico Madrid helped Juve to progress into the quarter final stage of the 2018/19 Champions League where they face Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam. These games will be Cristiano's first for his country since Russia 2018 where Portugal were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Uruguay.
