The Italian striker is aware that although he is enjoying a great period at Sampdoria, retirement is close, so he does not rule out going to the United States.

At 36 years old, Fabio Quagliarella is enjoying one of the best periods of his career, as the Italian striker leads the Serie A scoring chart with 22 goals in 31 games - a haul that has helped to push Sampdoria into the fight for a European place. However, he also has his sights set on the MLS.

Quagliarella knows that he is in the last years of his sports career and in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, he suggested he could end his career in the United States.

Sight in the United States

"I'm fantastic here in Genoa, but I would like to have an experience in the MLS; other Italian stars like [Andrea] Pirlo or [Sebastian] Giovinco have already taken the step toward 'soccer'," commented the Italian forward.

Quagliarella also talked about retirement, saying he wants to remain involved with football. "I hope to stay in the football world," he said. "I don't know if as a coach, because I would be too anxious." He added that Marco Giampaolo, Maurizio Sarri, Gian Piero Gasperini and Roberto de Zerbi are the coaches he appreciates the most.
