Landon Donovan surprised the soccer world when in January he announced his comeback to the field, although this time the former US men's national team superstar joined San Diego Sockers, a team from the MASL which was placed as favorite for the title with the arrival of 'Captain America.'

Since Donovan arrived at the Sockers, the team had a boost into the season achieving 23 consecutive wins and became the team with most goals in the whole league. However, that offensive power wasn't reflected in the Conference final against Monterrey, and the 'Flash' got the 4-3 victory over Donovan's side.

After the game, the US legend said he felt sad for not reaching the final and mentioned his wish to be back with the team next season, but he didn't commit to staying with the club.

"I would like to if they want me back if I have the chance, but other things in my life can prevent me from it, so we'll see what happens," Landon Donovan said in the mixed zone.

The former LA Galaxy striker also talked about his experience in the MASL mentioning he had great moments, "I had a great experience, a lot of respect for the organization, the fans, the staff, and Phil; I appreciate what they did, I took a chance and had a lot of fun."

In his first MASL tournament, he helped the Sockers with five goals and 11 assists in eight regular-season games with San Diego.
