As if things couldn't get much worse for Barcelona this week, it emerged this evening that striker Luis Suárez faces a lengthy lay-off as he requires surgery on his right knee. The club's medical services issued a report on the Uruguayan striker shortly after 19:00 hours and without disclosing too many details, informed that the 32-year-old will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee to repair damage to the medial meniscus. Leading specialist Doctor Ramon Cugat will perform the operation this evening supervised by a member of Barcelona's medical team.
Luis Suárez to miss Copa del Rey final
The club has not stated how long Luis Suárez faces on the sidelines but he is expected to be out for at least one month meaning that he is certain to miss the Copa del Rey final against Valencia on 25 May.
