Letting Luca go would be the best for Zidane
I'm pleased with the idea that Madrid are ruling out that Luca Zidane remains with the club as a possible second goalkeeper and will look for a loan deal. It's not a question whether the lad can cut it or not, though I do have my reservations and am not sure he has enough experience to convince us all that he is a worthy replacement for Courtois, should the Belgian pick up an injury. Going from Keylor as key keeper with Courtois as back-up or vice-versa and then going to Courtois as the number one stopper with Luca Zidane as reserve is dropping down a few rungs in my esteem. Ukrainian Lunin has yet to show us what he can do between the posts and comes on the back of a season with little playing time at Leganés, but at least he's not the coach's son.
The sanctity of the dressing room
This is no mere trivial matter either. Luca could be excellent or dreadful as a goalkeeper but I really feel it's not a good idea to have a son of the first team coach as a part of the squad. It conditions an unnatural atmosphere within the dressing room and it also influences on the behaviour of the player regarding any decision taken by his father in training and of course he would have to over exaggerate his displeasure at any decision taken by his father against him. A player needs to be able to feel free to express himself and have the space of the dressing room to vent his fury, throw a boot and even complain about the first team coach.
