Man United still chasing three Mourinho transfer targets
If United are willing to meet the price tags of the three players originally targeted by Mourinho, they will have to splash out some 265 million euros.
Manchester United may have sacked Jose Mourinho six months ago but the club are still targeting players originally recommended by the Portuguese coach, according to an exclusive report by The Sun.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Mourinho in December and this summer is looking to overhaul his squad for next season. The Red Devils have already secured the signing of 21-year-old winger Daniel James from Swansea and are expected to land several more of their targets before the summer is out.
And according to The Sun, amongst those targets are three originally suggested by Mourinho during his time at Old Trafford: Harry Maguire, Issa Diop and Declan Rice.
Maguire, Diop and Rice: a costly trio
Recent reports in the UK claimed that United’s chief executive Ed Woodward is ready to meet Leicester’s demands of £80 million (90 million euros) for England defender Maguire, who is also a primer target of Manchester City.
United have also contacted West Ham regarding the availability of Diop and Rice. The Hammers have reportedly told the Red Devils that they must fork out up to £75 million for Diop. That figure would put the French centre back ahead of Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk as the most expensive defender in history, should Woodward be willing to pay it.
Meanwhile, for star midfielder Rice, the Hammers have reportedly told United he will not be sold for anything less than £80 million.
That means if United are willing to meet the price tags of the three players originally targeted by Mourinho, they will have to splash out some £235 million (265 million euros).
