Rose Lavelle: second youngest player to score in a WWC final
The USWNT midfielder became the second youngest player to score in the Women's World Cup final behind teammate Alex Morgan at 24 years and 54 days.
The United States women's national team had its best World Cup in France, reaching new milestones and breaking records from the start, not only as a team, but as individual players.
Such a case is that of Rose Lavelle who signs her own name into World Cup history by becoming the second youngest player to score in a Women's World Cup Final, at 24 years and 54 days old. Lavelle scored the team's second goal against the Netherlands.
The American midfielder is considered the future of the USA team. With Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe in the final stretches of their careers, Rose is set to take the lead to keep the American side as the main power in the world.
It is actually Alex Morgan who is the only player younger than Lavelle to have scored in a World Cup final, something she achieved in 2011 in the German edition against Japan when she was just 22 years and 15 days old.
Similarities in their goals
The goals that sit in the history books as the two youngest have some noteworthy similarities. Morgan and Lavelle both scored in the 69th minute and both players shot with their left foot into the goalkeeper's left-hand post.
