Jill Ellis time as US Women's Team coach comes to an end
Ellis will step down as coach once the 2019 World Cup victory tour ends in October, but will remain as an Ambassador for the US Soccer Federation.
It is the end of an era for the US Women's National Team as Jill Ellis announces she will step down as coach following the Victory Tour that ends in early October.
Ellis leaves the USWNT as the first coach in history to win back-to-back world cups with an overall record of 102 wins 18 draws and 7 losses. The 52-year-old strategist will continue working with US Soccer for at least one more year in the role of ambassador for the Federation.
"The opportunity to coach this team and work with these amazing women has been the honor of a lifetime; I want to thank and praise them for their commitment and passion to not only win championships but also raise the profile of this sport globally while being an inspiration to those who will follow them," read Jill Ellis statement.
"Change is something I have always embraced in my life, and for my family and me, this is the right moment."
US Soccer president Carlos Cordeiro said the Federation owes Ellis a debt of gratitude, and praised for helping "to raise the bar for women's soccer in the United States and the world."

Ellis leaves with the proud record of eight titles won as USWNT coach: The Algarve Cup (2015), FIFA Women's World Cup (2015, 2019), CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship (2016), the SheBelieves Cup (2016, 2018), the Tournament of Nations (2018), the Concacaf Women's Championship (2018).
