At the beginning of the week, Wayne Rooney announced he'll leave the MLS and DC United in January after two seasons to join Derby County in a player-coach deal.

After the announcement, the DC United captain returned to training as the Washington side is getting ready to host LA Galaxy for this weekend match.

Ben Olsen mentioned Rooney is determined and focused on closing the regular season the best way possible, although the DC United coach, regrets the departure of one of his stars.

"He seems to be fine, determined and ready to return here and start playing, focused on the task of moving this team in a different direction towards the end of the season," said the coach.

On route to equal his MLS stats

If Rooney scores against LA Galaxy on Sunday, he would match the goals mark he recorded in his debut season, since the English striker has 11 goals and six assists so far, one less goal than last year.
