Odegaard presented with LaLiga gong

Real Sociedad's Martin Odegaard, who is at the Basque club on a year-long loan from Real Madrid, picked up his LaLiga Player of the Month Award before his side's 2-1 league defeat to Getafe on Sunday. La Real legend Xabi Prieto was on hand to present the trophy to the Norwegian, whose impressive performances throughout September saw him scoop the prize ahead of Madrid's Karim Benzema and Villarreal's Gerard Moreno.

Odegaard has been ever-present so far this season for the Txuri-Urdin, who sit in fifth place after eight rounds of the LaLiga campaign.

Benzema's Bernabéu century

Real Madrid's win over Granada on Saturday was the 100th home match in which Benzema has found the net for Los Blancos. The Frenchman's goal, which opened the scoring for Zinedine Zidane's men in a 4-2 LaLiga victory over the high-flying Andalusians, took his all-time tally of Bernabéu strikes to 135.

Rodrygo Goes without game time

Brazilian starlet Rodrygo Goes saw no action this weekend, either with the seniors or the 'B' team. The 18-year-old was an unused substitute in Madrid's clash with Granada, before being left out of the Castilla squad for Sunday's 1-1 Segunda División B draw with San Sebastián de los Reyes.

Champions League opponents stumble again

Real Madrid's next Champions League opponents, Galatasaray, continued their recent winless run with a 0-0 Süper Lig draw at struggling Genclerbirligi on Saturday. Fatih Terim's side have now gone five games without victory and find themselves down in 10th in the Turkish top flight.

Madrid go to Istanbul on 22 October in part one of a Group A double header with 'Galata', with both sides currently languishing on just one point after two games.

17 years since Ronaldo's Real impact

Sunday was the 17th anniversary of Ronaldo Nazário's memorable debut for Real Madrid. Signed from Inter in a 46m-euro deal in summer 2002, the Brazilian had to wait for his bow because of injury - but when he finally got onto the pitch, he had in instant impact. Introduced as a second-half substitute against Alavés, the striker took just 62 seconds to score, later adding another in a 5-2 win at the Bernabéu.

Ronaldo went on to net a total of 104 goals in 177 appearances for Madrid, before joining AC Milan in January 2007.
