Real Madrid has issued an official statement regarding an injury to Lucas Vázquez, who has suffered a fracture in his left foot.

Update:
Real Madrid confirm Lucas Vázquez injury

Real Madrid has confirmed that Lucas Vázquez has suffered a fracture to his left toe in training which could see him miss this Saturday’s clash with Real Sociedad.

The injury happened when a weight fell on his foot during a session in the gym at Real Madrid's Valdebebas training ground.

“Following the tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vázquez by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with a fracture to the distal phalanx in his left hallux. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” the club said in an official statement published on its website.

Doctor assessment on Lucas Vazquez injury

AS' resident medical expert, Dr. José Gonzalez, says Lucas Vázquez’s injury is not too serious and will not require surgery.

According to Dr. Gonzalez, the 28-year-old winger’s return date "will depend on the players’ pain tolerance". “

“There are players who can play without taking time off despite the fracture and there other players who end up out of training for a month and half,” he said.

This is the Spaniard’s second injury setback this season after he missed two games in October due to a calf issue.
