The LaLiga match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, scheduled for 18 Decemeber, is expected to be played under "normal conditions", according to the Catalan police force, Los Mossos d'Esquadra, despite threats of a protest called for by a group known as Tsunami Democràtic.

This edition of the Clásico has already been postponed from 26 October, due to protests in Barcelona over the jailing of a number of independence politicians and campaigners.

Tsunami Democràtic is an online, unregistered platform, which has called, using social media, for a protest outside the Camp Nou before the Clásico, as well as other, unspecified, actions to be carried out by spectators within the ground.

Clásico to be played under "normal conditions"

According to police sources, while the game is being considered high risk, a large number of police officers will be deployed to ensure the match is played under "normal conditions". According to the same sources, the police have not uncovered anything that would lead them to think this would not be the case.

No issues with Real Madrid team bus route

Equally, Los Mossos understand there will be no problem in ensuring the Real Madrid team bus reaches the stadium without incident, given the route from the hotel to the Camp Nou can be secured without technical complications. Furthermore, the police do not expect there to be any requirement to substantially modify the route taken by the Real Madrid team bus.

The Catalan police do however recognise that there may be issues with mobility in the streets close to the Camp Nou and are recommending that fans travelling to the game use public transport and aim to be there in good time for the 20:00 kick-off.

The police do not consider that it will be necessary to put in place a security cordon around the stadium, although they will be monitoring events during the day of the game, in order to detect any increased risk of incidents.
