Keisuke Honda becomes first player to score on five continents

Veteran Japanese midfielder Keisuke Honda has made footballing history after becoming the first player to score on five continents. The former Milan and CSKA Moscow scored on his debut for Botafogo against Bangú in the Campeonato Carioca to add South America to his haul of Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania.
Honda, 33, earned 98 caps for Japan, scoring 38 times and representing the Samurai Blue at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 World Cups, as well as winning the 2011 Asian Cup, where he was named played of the tournament.
Honda in the history books
Honda joined Botafogo in January after a brief spell at Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie, where he combined his duties as the manager of Cambodia with the continuation of his eclectic playing career. Following an issue with his registration in Brazil and a dose of the flu, Honda finally debuted for O Glorioso against Bangú and found himself on the score sheet after converting a penalty in the first half to make a bit of history as the first player to find the net in a professional club football game on five separate continents.
