Real Madrid's ongoing mission to convince Camavinga
The player's team-mates at Rennes are doing their best to persuade Camavinga to stay: "It's better to make a measured decision rather than one in haste", maintained colleague Niang.
Rennes club owner François Pinault is dedicated on keeping the 17-old-player at the French club next season and turn a deaf ear to the overtures of Real Madrid with contact already established contact with the player's representative.
Rennes coach Julien Stéphan has also been instrumental in attempting to keep the talented teenager in France. The head coach stated: “I'd always offer the advice of staying here for another season as part of a learning process as I feel the player still has a hurdle or two to overcome before moving to a major European side.
Hasty decision
Despite Camavinga being out of contract in June 2022 with no buy-out clause attached to his signature, his own team mates have added their weight in attempting to ensure that the player stays with the Breton side. Team-mate M'Baye Niang offered an Instagram live interview with beIN SPORTS journalist Smaïl Bouabdellah and claimed: “Camavinga is a player with his feet on the ground and my advice to him is to ensure that his decision is the correct one. I've spoken to him on this matter and advised him not to make a hasty decision. It's difficult I would imagine when you have the likes of Zidane or Mourinho interested. I've told him to speak to his agent and his parents and let them look at teenagers at these clubs. His parents will know what's best for him and that really is important".
Rennes will fight to keep the talented young player for at least another season with the hierarchy at the club anxious to improve on the third position in Ligue 1 before the campaign was drawn to an abrupt end by the Covid-19 pandemic. The French player has stated that he will make a decision relating to his immediate future upon the conclusion of the domestic season in Europe.
