Barcelona and Ajax reach initial agreement for Sergiño Dest: 20 million plus 5 in add-ons
The American full-back will officially become a Barcelona player in the next few hours, Esport 3 report. Barça CEO Oscar Grau clinched the deal with Ajax this evening.
Sergiño Dest is on the cusp of signing for Barcelona, according to TV3 programme Onze. Barcelona General Director Oscar Grau closed the operation with Ajax this evening after confirming an initial payment of 20 million euros plus a further five million in add-ons. As things stand, only a few small flecks remain to be finalised to definitively conclude the deal - such as how the 20 million euro fee will be paid, in two or three installments.
Semedo set for Wolves
It means that Ronald Koeman will get one of the players he expressly requested, after confirmation that tomorrow, Nelson Semedo will sign for Premier League side Wolves on a five-year deal for between 32 and 35 million euros.
Barcelona appear to have pipped Bayern Munich to land Dest - the German champions put down a 10 million euro offer which was rejected by Ajax. It can be considered a small amount of revenge for humiliating defeat to Bayern last month in Lisbon.
Dest, who is still only 19, is one of the great promises in the modern game and is considered a talented defender who also possesses all of the abilities of a striker.
