The semifinals of the 2020 Concacaf Champions League between Los Angeles FC and Club América go heated during the 90 minutes. Eduard Atuesta from LAFC was sent off after an foul on Guillermo Ochoa from América and with 10-men, Carlos Vela was able to score a brace and lead the team to a 3-1 victory against the Liga MX side.

Bad tempered semi-final

Atuesta saw a red card in stoppage time of the first half and Luis Reyes from América was sent off in the 79 minute of the second half. The MLS side had a tough mission to overcome the 1-0 deficit with 10-man during the entire second half.

Carlos Vela came in with a killer mentality after the break and he scored a brace in less than 70 seconds. América was stunned by the former MVP and it seemed he was really eager to score against the Liga MX team. After scoring his second goal in the 47 minute, Carlos Vela celebrated by yelling “there it is mother fuckers.”

The game was so heated that Carlos Vela let his anger out when he gave his team the 2-1 lead with one less player. Prior to this game it was rumored that Vela could sign with América next season, but after his performance and celebration, it is quite clear he has no intention in leaving LAFC.

Miguel Herrera was also sent off

When the first half ended, the head coach from América entered a heated discussion with LAFC's assistant coach, Ante Rozov, and the argument got physical. Players and referees had to intervene and the television cameras showed when Herrera was sent off the game and escorted to the stands before the second half started.
