Haaland points to Ramos, Van Dijk and Koulibaly

The Norwegian striker burst onto the scene with his goalscoring exploits, and is now high on the wanted list of the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Update:
Haaland points to Ramos, Van Dijk and Koulibaly

Erling Haaland is preparing to restart his season with Borussia Dortmund on 3 January 2021 but had time to chat with a local media outlet and answer some questions.

Liverpool, Real Madrid, Napoli defenders

The Norwegian striker has had to sit out some of the German side’s games of late due to injury but there is no doubting the 20-year old’s credentials. After bursting onto the scene with RB Salzburg, he has continued his incredible goalscoring return in the Bundesliga. Those performances earned him the Golden Boy award and Europe’s elite clubs are keeping close tabs on his progress, and more importantly his contract.

Scoring goals is proving relatively easy for Haaland, both in domestic competition and in the Champions League, but the striker has faced up against some of the best defenders. For him the best three he’s shared a pitch with thus far play for LaLiga champions Real Madrid, Premier League winners Liverpool, and Napoli in Serie A.

"I think the best three central defenders in the world are Sergio Ramos, Virgil van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly,” Haaland told Norwegian paper VG.

"All three are very physical, but also very intelligent on the pitch."

Solskjaer an idol

During the insightful interview, the young star also spoke of his footballing idols from back home growing up, including the current Manchester United manager, a club that has been linked to his transfer.

"As a child, I watched John Carew a lot, I also followed Solskjaer and John Arne Riise."

Haaland’s eyes are currently on a return to action against Wolfsburg on 3 January.

"I've set myself a goal for 2021, I want to start full throttle against them and not stop until the end of the season," the striker said ominously.
