Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has said he's disappointed with Gareth Bale's return to Tottenham since his arrival on loan from Real Madrid in October.

Bale has failed to live up to expectations since his return to North London and reports are that he could be heading back to the Spanish capital at the season's end as Spurs may have no interest in keeping him.

A video recently emerged from Tottenham training in which Jose Mourinho threatened the Welshman with a return to Real Madrid to "play no football".

Bale "not producing" the right level at Spurs - Berbatov

For his part, Berbatov said it was "disappointing" that Bale has not played more since his return to Spurs, where he's netted three goals in 12 appearences.

"It's disappointing that he's not given more time to play. But if you're not given time to play, either you're injured, or you're not performing well in training or not in good shape to play," said the former Bulgarian international.

"Whatever the reason is, Gareth Bale is injury-free now because he's on the bench for the team, but he's not playing from the first minute. So it mean's he's obviously not producing the right level."
