Biting punishment for Goa captain could end his season
Spanish footballer Edu Bedia who plays for FC Goa in the Indian Super League took a bite out of his opponent during a tussel, and could face a lengthy ban.
On Saturday, FC Goa earned a point as they held Chennaiyin FC to a 2-2 draw in the Indian Super League, their sixth consecutive draw. The equalising goal came from Ishan Pandita's fourth goal of the season and the point moved them into third place in the table. But the main headline of this game revolved around a biting incident involving Goa captain Edu Bedia.

As seen in the above video, Bedia and Deepak Tangri challenged for the ball in the 95th minute. As they fell, the Spanish midfielder appeared to bite his opponent near the waist, and that will almost certainly lead to him missing the rest of the league season and potentially more.
Chennaiyin FC head coach Csaba Laszlo was asked about the incident after the game, but he deflected the answer to the player: "You have to ask Deepak Tangri what happened there with Edu Bedia."
With the regulations stating that punishment of spitting at an opponent coming with a ban of at least six matches, expectations are that Bedia may well be out for the remainder of the campaign, which only has three games to go, and potentially more thereafter.
