It’s an exciting looking group of young players that head coach Jason Kreis has called upon, with 11 of them already having earned a cap for the senior squad - Jackson Yueill having done so on nine occasions - and ten have previously won Concacaf U-20 championships.
Out of all the Concacaf teams, the USA’s 14 appearances at the Olympic Games is the greatest and since 1992, when the U-23 rule came into being, they have featured in four out of seven Olympics. The last time they qualified was in 2008, when a promising teenager going by the name of Freddy Adu scored twice against Canada to reach Beijing. For Rio 2016, the team finished third in their group but failed to overcome Colombia in the playoff double-header.
