Lusail will host the next World Cup final and is the largest stadium of the eight destined to host Qatar 2022, with a capacity of 80,000.
The opening date of the Lusail World Cup Stadium is expected to be revealed soon, after an announcement from The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), confirming that the venue has entered its final phase of construction.
The stadium will be included on the list of the World Cup stadiums which have already opened, Al Khalifa International, Al Januob, Education City and Ahmed Bin Ali.
The Committee posted photos on its Twitter account demonstrating the progress made on the Lusail stadium. The Final of the FIFA 2022 World Cup will be played in the modern arena as well as four other matches from Group D.
The photos show the completion of the exterior façade of the stadium.
Hosting 2022 World Cup Final
Lusail is the largest World Cup stadium of the eight venues destined to host Qatar 2022, with a capacity of 80,000. After the tournament, parts of the stadium will be donated to develop sports infrastructure in other developing countries.
The design of the Lusail World Cup stadium, where the Qatar 2022 final will be played, was inspired by the food bowls and traditional utensils used in the Middle East's golden age, as well as the fusion of light and shadow.
Community created from stadium
Plans are in place to remodel the stadium space and surroundings into a community village with schools, homes, shopping centres, restaurants, medical clinics, and a football pitch.
