Paul Pogba is now at a crucial point in his career. At 28 years old and after his good performance this season, the Frenchman will sit down to decide his future before signing what will likely be his last major contract. His current contract at Manchester United ends in 2022 and this summer he must extend his deal at Old Trafford or find a new club.

His agent Mino Raiola has already began talks with United and, according to reports in the UK, has demanded that the club increase his weekly salary to £500,000 pounds (€577,000 / $691,000) in exchange for Pogba’s signature on a new deal in Manchester. Such a deal would make the Frenchmen one of the highest paid footballers on the planet.

Real Madrid unlikely to move for Pogba

UK press reports have once again cited Real Madrid as one of the teams interested in Pogba, claiming the LaLiga club has also been informed of the midfielder's salary demands.

The Frenchman has long been a desire of Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, who has asked the club to sign him in the past. Although, at the moment the operation does not seem feasible. The priority for the Bernabéu board right now is PSG star Kylian Mbappé. Moreover, Pogba’s inflated pay demands would also be unfeasible for Madrid amid the difficult financial situation the club is currently in due to the pandemic.

Among Pogba’s suitors, the UK press reports have also identified PSG and his former club Juventus. Although the Serie A giants are currently not in a position to take on such a high salary, meaning PSG appears to be Pogba's only option should he decide to leave Old Trafford.
