Miguel Herrera will take managerial job at Tigres UANL
The Liga MX side have chosen the Mexican manager to take over the job after their participation in the 2021 Guardianes tournament playoffs.
Last month Ricardo Ferretti confirmed that he will leave Tigres UANL once the 2021 Guardianes tournament concludes. The Brazilean manager will leave the club from Monterrey after over a decade and he is aiming to lift the title this year before he departs.
Ferretti had three stints with Tigres UANL, but since 2006 he has won all the titles possible with the club. The Brazilean won the Liga MXtitle in the 2011 Apertura, 2015 Apertura, 2016 Apertura, 2017 Apertura and the 2019 Clausura. He also won the Copa MX in the 2014 Clausura, the Campeón de Campeones in 2016, 2017 and 2018, the Campeones Cup in 2018 and the CONCACAF Champions League in 2020.
Herrera to replace Ferretti next tournament
According to sources from AS Mexico, the bosses have chosen Miguel Herrera as their new manager for the next tournament. The Mexican manager has a good relationship with Tigres UANL president Mauricio Culebro and they will make the official announcement after the participation of the team in the 2021 Guardianes tournament.
Herrera has proven to be a very successful manager in the Liga MX winning two Liga MX titles with Club América (2013 Clausura and 2018 Apertura), one Copa MX (2019 Clausura) and one Campeón de Campeones (2019). Tigres UANL will face Atlas on 8 May for the wildcard in a single-elimination match to advance to the first round of playoffs.
