Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul: press conference

Thanks for joining our coverage of today's press conference. We'll be bringing you more over the weekend in the lead up to the fight on Sunday night.

Mayweather on Paul: "I don't really know Logan Paul"

"My youngest daughter, she does Youtube, so she knows Logan Paul!"

"He's banking on his height and race, so we'll see."

"I'm in good shape. I'm training a little bit, here and there."

"The fight is here now and I can't wait."

"I don't really know Logan Paul. I'm fighting a Youtuber who thinks he's a fighter. I've already made €30 million."

Floyd Mayweather: "I'm always happy on fight week. Hopefully, everything turns out great for the event. The boxing was the mashed potatoes, these guys now is the gravy. I retired from boxing but not from entertainment or making money."

Mayweather: "I'm glad he believes in himself [Paul], but the last time I checked, all 50 fighters I have fought all said the same!"

Mayweather: "Florida is a great place to be. I can never overlook the people that help me. The last 18-24 months have been tough for the people of the US."

Mayweather: "Someone can get knocked out, which is good, so we can have a winner."

Mayweather: "I don't really look at it as a fight. I just look at it as going out, entertaining the people and having fun."

Mayweather: "The top fighters have to fight, I don't have to fight, I don't. I made smart investments and don't have to fight anymore."

Mayweather: "On Sunday, I'm so used to saying Saturday! It's going to be fun. There's a difference between Youtube boxing and elite boxing!"

"The gloves are smaller, from the beginning I wanted 8oz gloves and hopefully we can change to 8oz gloves."

The media surround 44-year-old Mayweather ahead of the questions. We'll bring you his responses very shortly.

New rules for Mayweather vs Paul

Mayweather undefeated, inexperienced Logan Paul yet to win

Mayweather, 44, retired from professional boxing in 2017 with a 50-0 record, having won world titles in no fewer than five weight classes during an illustrious, two-decade career.

Paul's boxing record is rather less impressive: the 26-year-old met fellow social-media star KSI in two exhibition fights in 2018 and 2019, drawing the first and losing the second.

Where to buy Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul tickets

You can purchase tickets for the bout on the official Fanmio site. You can check it out here.

We're told that Floyd is not too far away now!

Floyd Mayweather will be in shortly to give his thoughts ahead of Sunday's fight.

Logan Paul: "This is a fight and anything can happen"

"I'm gonna fight my heart out. Experience is fantastic. In almost any industry experience is gonna trump everything else. But this is a fight and anything can happen."

Logan Paul is back on the mic:

"I love this, I'm in my element. I started making videos on YouTube but this is end game. I didn't choose boxing, boxing choose me. Truthfully boxing is easier on the body than MMA. My upper body is strong, I got dense-ass bones. MMA is tough."

Mayweather is expected to enter the mansion shortly to give his thoughts on Sunday's fight.

Logan Paul: "Floyd can play it off all he wants, but we know he's working hard!"

Logan Paul: "I hit hard and I think we'll see Floyd's eyes light up. It could get ugly, it's a fight! The rules are broad, anything could happen. Tyson Fury is my favourite fighter, I might hit him up! For the fans in the UK, thanks for staying up as late as you did. I promise to not disappoint."

Logan Paul: "She knows what her son is capable of, Mum, I love you!"

Logan Paul is in the building and poses for some snaps ahead of the face-off with Floyd.

Today's press conference is taking place at the Versace mansion across from South Beach, Miami.

When Floyd fought Conor McGregor, that was a real fight!

This fight has some new rules, however, Florida is allowing knockouts!

Fight rules

Mayweather vs Paul

Mayweather and 26-year-old Paul’s pay-per-view fight event will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida this Sunday.

Mayweather has not fought since he came out of retirement to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor in August 2017, a bout he won.

The former five-weight world champion is 50-0 in his fighting career, with 27 KOs.

Paul hasn’t recorded a single professional boxing win. He’s 0-1 in his premature fighting career, having lost to fellow YouTuber KSI by split decision in November 2019.

Logan

Logan Paul on working out at the historic 5th Street Gym:

“There are greats who’ve fought in here. You have to put respect where respect is due. I just want to come in here and work my ass off. It’s such an honor to be in the presence of such great people in such a historic environment.”

On why this fight will be different than Conor McGregor or Canelo Alvarez against Mayweather:

“I’m just not them. I’m not going in there at 155 pounds. I’m not going in there with the fight meaning the entire world to me. I have nothing to lose.

"This whole thing is going to be fun for me. I’m going to play with Floyd – gonna dog him and hit him hard. I’m going to break him down physically, mentally, everything. I don’t like comparing myself to other guys. As great as they might be, I’m not them.”

Logan Paul is expected to come through first!

Both fighters will have approximately a 10 minute chat with the press.

Logan Paul speaks ahead of Mayweather fight

Social media sensation Logan Paul showed off his skills during a media workout on Wednesday at the historic 5th Street Gym in Miami as he nears his special exhibition showdown against all-time great Floyd “Money” Mayweather headlining a SHOWTIME PPV this Sunday, June 6 from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Here is what Paul had to say in Miami:

“This whole thing is surreal. Everything about it. I told my manager and we kind of had an inside joke that until I get in the ring with him, I didn’t think this fight was happening.

"But I think it’s safe to say that I can believe it now. I think it’s happening. It’s fight week. I can’t imagine Floyd would back out now, but who knows? Old man fakes an injury. Gets scared of the big kid. I’m excited.

“Weight is great and we’re about at 195. Energy is great and I feel strong, fast, sharp. I have no complaints. This is the best shape I’ve ever been in. And I need to be because it’s an eight-round fight. It’s the longest fight I’ve ever fought. So I have to be ready.”

Mayweather’s decision to fight YouTuber Logan Paul was an “easy” one

“I believe in working smarter, not harder. So if it’s something easy like [the Paul fight], a legalized bank robbery, I gotta do it. I have to do it,” Mayweather said during Showtime’s pre-PPV show “Inside Mayweather vs. Paul,” released on May 29.

“My nickname is ‘Money’ for a reason… I worked extremely hard for years and years to get to a certain level. A level where we can start calling everything an event,” the 44-year-old retired boxing legend explained.

The Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul press conference is about to begin! Stay tuned for live coverage.

Few would have believed it just a number of months back, but boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr is back in the ring to face Youtuber Logan Paul in one of the most anticipated bouts of the year so far.

The event will take place on Saturday at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Paul, who is expected to bring a 30-pound weight advantage into the fight, is a massive underdog, since he’ll be going up against a man who has a record of 50 wins and 0 defeats and considered by many as one of the greatest fighters of all time and possibly the best defensive boxer ever.

Who has beaten Floyd Mayweather? When was his last loss?

Floyd Mayweather’s boxing career has been perfect. From his record to his record-breaking paydays, since turning pro Floyd can do no wrong in the ring. But right before going pro “Pretty Boy” Floyd was defeated in the Atlanta Olympic Games and went home with the Bronze Medal.

Way back in the summer games of 1996, Floyd Mayweather was in the losing corner of the semifinal bout against Serafim Todorov. It was the last time the future king of the ring would lose.

MAYWEATHER VS LOGAN PAUL

What are the covid-19 restrictions for the Mayweather vs Logan Paul fight?

The bout between boxing legend Floyd "Money" Mayweather and YouTuber sensation Logan Paul is a go; the matchup will take place in sunny Miami. Initially scheduled for February of last year at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, the fight had to be postponed to a different date in light of the sanitary crisis affecting the entire world.

Mayweather explained that the fight was rescheduled for another date because of covid-19 restrictions that would limit their audience numbers. Given the nature of the bout, an exhibition spectacle, the fighters lean heavily on fans being able to attend the stadium.

With chatter that the clash between the boxers would never occur, the fight is now a reality in what seems a series of boxing matches that are anything but professional.
