Al-Khelaifi: "We will never sell Mbappé"
The PSG chief gave an interview to L'Equipe in which he explained that the forward will not leave Paris and that he will not be sold.
Speaking in an interview with L'Equipe, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi discussed Kylian Mbappé's future. The PSG chief stated that the forward will not leave Paris this summer and that he will never be sold, adding that he will not leave on a free transfer either.
"I am going to be clear: Kylian will stay in Paris, we are never going to sell him and he will never leave on a free transfer. I never give the details of negotiations to the media. All I can say is that they are progressing. I hope to find a common ground. He is one of the best players today and is a fantastic guy. He will win the Ballon d'Or in the next few years, I'm sure of it. Where can he go? Which clubs, in terms of ambition and project can compete with PSG?".
PSG's objective remains to try to renew Mbappé's contract as soon as possible so that he does not leave for Real Madrid, although the Parisians' top executive's priority is to ensure that he does not leave on a free.
Neymar's new deal
Al-Khelaifi also had words for Neymar's renewal, confirming that they rejected an offer from Barcelona for the Brazilian: "Frankly, it was not difficult to reach an agreement with Neymar. I am still convinced that he is one of the best players in the world. If the negotiations took so long it was because of the coronavirus crisis. I never had any doubt that he was going to renew. We turned down an offer from Barcelona and they tried until the end. I think they have economic problems, but they are not our problems. Neymar believes in our project, he loves the city, the fans. He is totally committed to the team."
When asked about Lionel Messi, he said: "I'm not talking about ongoing negotiations, as I said. Besides, I told the Barcelona president that Messi was at the end of his contract and that all clubs have the right from January 1 to talk with him. What I can tell you is that all the great players want to come to PSG but it's not possible to bring everyone here. Messi is a fantastic player."
