QATAR 2022

El Salvador vs USA: how and where to watch - times, TV, online

'La Selecta' will host the United States men’s national team on 2 September at the Estadio Cuscatlan with Chelsea's Pulisic ruled out for the USMNT.

Update:
El Salvador-USA (WC 2022 qualifier)

The United States will begin the final and decisive round of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers on 2 September against El Salvador at the Estadio Cuscatlan but Gregg Berhalter's side will be missing key player in Christian Pulisic after the Chelsea star tested positive for covid-19 and the player will not fly to San Salvador.

The El Salvador national team coach, Hugo Pérez, was interviewed by Diario El Salvador and he talked about the possibility that Pulisic might miss the opening match of the Octagonal round-robin tournament. Pérez knows the Chelsea playmaker very well given that he managed him in the United States youth national team a few years ago.

It's a shame what happened to Christian [Pulisic]. I wanted to play against us in the Octagonal round because I know him personally and I wish him a speedy recovery. There still is a chance that he recovers. It is important for my players that they play against the best because they will improve their level and of the national team,” said Pérez during the interview.

Start of 'octagon' group phase

From the original 35 sides in the CONCACAF region that started out on their quest to progress to Qatar, just eight remain with three automatic spaces up for grabs with a play-off spot on the line for the side that finishes fourth.

Regional 'big guns', Mexico, USA, Honduras, Costa Rica and Jamaica got a bye to the final group by virtue of their FIFA ranking with Canada, Panama and El Salvador qualifying through a series of group stage and play-off process.

Next up for USA & El Salvador

The USMNT travel to Canada and finish off this three game spell with another road trip as they face Honduras away. El Salvador, for their part play Honduras at home before traveling north to face Canada.
