PSG vs Lyon: Messi home debut, Mbappé possible, Ramos still out

PSG fans are getting excited about the possibility of Messi's first game at home, while Mbappé's situation looks more promising.

PSG face Lyon on Sunday in what’s a major game at the top of Ligue 1, and a match in which one Leo Messi could make his home debut at the Parc des Princes. Messi will be playing in the wake of the revelation of his contract details, which were published by L'Equipe. According to their report he is earning $129 million over three years.

What’s not clear is whether Mbappé will have the chance of taking part, after he picked up an injury in the Champions League draw against Brugge on Wednesday. The news coming out of PSG though is mostly positive, with the injury being limited to a small knock to the left foot and not an ankle sprain as the medical team initially feared.

Mbappé’s chances on the up

In fact, in the last few hours it appears the chance of the French international taking part against Lyon have gone up exponentially. In his press conference ahead of the match, coach Pochettino was unable to confirm Mbappé would play but did say that he had trained with the rest of the squad and that they would take a decision on the situation on Sunday morning. According to French paper Le Parisien, it’s fairly likely Mbappé will play.

What’s up with Sergio Ramos?

One player definitely out for the game is Sergio Ramos, the defender PSG picked up on a free transfer from Real Madrid in the summer. And in fact there’s not even any indication as to when he might start his playing career with his new club.

The Spanish international is yet to make his debut with the French giants, and in the most recent medical statement from the club, released at noon today, Saturday, the only information on the player is that he continues to recover on his own, with no details as to when he might be fit.

Verratti also won’t play against Lyon, while both Gueye and Di María, who were out suspended against Brugges, are back in the squad.
